Just some tips off the top of my head, learning from my own mistakes too. I guess these guides will be an ongoing series until I run out of ideas. I just feel like I have so much information to share which the newer players might not know about until later on. I’ll try my best to organize the tips in a way that will stay relevant as it goes on, i.e. not giving tips about Heroes while some people don’t even have them yet.
Yes, this guide series is mainly aimed towards Sage and Rose, but hey, maybe there will be tidbits of information someone else might have missed. It will also contain good tips for someone with a higher-level Builder Base.
I hope you will enjoy these guides and find them useful, and I hope you all enjoy the game.
[“Next” button] One thing I forgot when I started playing again was that you can use the “Next” button when attacking as many times as you want. Such an easy rookie mistake, but I felt it was worth mentioning. For my first few attacks after coming back into the game, I forgot that there was a “Next” button allowing you to skip the village and find a new one, so I was just attacking every village I saw. As you go through this guide series, hopefully it will help fine-tune your attacks so you can analyze bases in under the 30 seconds it gives you, so you can just keep spamming the “Next” button quick enough to find the perfect village to attack. Later on in this series, I plan to have visual guides overlaid on screenshots, so you can see what I see when I look for bases to attack.
[Shield] Another thing I want to say is to not be afraid to break your own shield. I know it feels a little bit like a waste to break a shield by attacking while it’s still up, but is it not more of a waste to rarely attack for fear of breaking your shield? You miss out on resources and practice. If we are to ever participate in clan wars again in the future, we will need a lot of practice together. Tremor mentioned that this game is a good “bathroom” game, which is true. You can just load up the game, start a few upgrades, attack a few times, and continue on with your day. But you can’t attack if you don’t want to break your shield, so just go ahead and attack a few times whenever you find the time to play the game, wherever it might be. Get that loot! Someone will eventually come along, attack your village, and give you a shield. Then the next day, repeat; Bathroom, upgrade, attack, continue on.
[Free-to-Play] The biggest thing to remember is that this is a game about waiting. It will push your patience to the limit. If you pay money, all that does is shorten the time for a few upgrades, but there will always & forever be upgrades, up to the very last townhall level. The very end of the game is just upgrades and then, nothing… So if you decide to pay money, only do so if it means getting to enjoy the game more. In my case, I decided that buying the season gold pass for $5 was worth it. (Each month is a new season, so $5/mo) For others, it might be gems, or special deal packs. Just be responsible and mindful of how you spend money and gems. For reference: 100 gems = about $1.
Welp, just wanted to get these basics out there before we move on with the next of the guides.
